10 kV SiC MOSFET Based Medium Voltage Power Conditioning System for Asynchronous Microgrids

Distributed energy resources (DERs) and microgrids have seen tremendous growth research activities in recent years. Flexible DERs asynchronous (ASMG) can many system-level benefits over fixed conventional microgrids. The key enabler for flexible ASMG is a power converter based conditioning system (PCS) as the interface between DERs/microgrids medium voltage (MV) distribution grid. High (HV, >3.3 kV) silicon carbide (SiC) MV now promising solution PCS. This article presents development testing of 10 kV SiC MOSFET PCS 13.8 ASMG. design addressing high dv/dt issue generated by fast switching presented. developed successfully tested at 25 dc ac voltages 100 kVA power.
